About DevQuery 4.0...

Function

Overview
DevQuery 4.0 (referred to as LiveChat) was created to allow for communication between people on our website when it would be otherwise impossible due to restrictions in place.

Details
LiveChat is a page of chat messages taken from a Discord channel, with the capability to input a username and message content - this is sent as a Webhook to the Discord channel, and the page is refreshed with the new message added to it.

Drawbacks
Unfortunately, LiveChat currently does not support mobile browsers. As a result, an error page will appear upon attempting to load the LiveChat on a mobile device. We apologise for this, and hope to get a mobile version running in the future.

Evolution

Creation
LiveChat was made under the name DevQuery 4.0 (before "LiveChat" was first used) on the 20th May 2024 as a Python program that would access Discord chat data through a server, and send message requests to it.

Migration
DevQuery 4.0 was eventually renamed to LiveChat as it became a standalone website, as opposed to a Python-based system like its predecessor, and public access was given on the 19th June 2024 @ 22:51, after the first stable version was published.

Future
One future of LiveChat may be the integration of Discord accounts for a verified user identity when sending messages, which reduces the possibility of not using a true identity. This will, however, remain optional, as Discord sign-ins will not be available in some environments.
